French president hugs his players on the ground after worldcup defeat

On Sunday, France president Emmanuel Macron took to the pitch to console his players after they lost the World Cup final to Argentina on penalties.

The greatest final in World Cup history played out at Lusail Stadium in Qatar. France twice came from behind – firstly to force extra time and then to bring about a penalty shootout.

In the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Argentina defeated France to win the World Cup for the third time, ending a 16-year monopoly in Europe. The final was decided on penalty kicks, with Argentina winning 2–4.

French President Emmanuel Macron was also present at the ground to watch the final. The French president also jumped for joy when the team scored a goal. However, after France’s defeat, Macron came down and hugged and encouraged his players.
