French University Offering Master Degree in ‘Drinking Eating and Living’

The BMV degree, according to Sciences Po Lille’s official website, covers a wide range of topics such as foods, drinks, food technology, gastro-diplomacy, and more.

Food and beverages, obviously, play a significant role in our daily lives. However, some people like elevating the act of eating, drinking, and socialising to an art form. For example, consider the French. France is famous for its cuisine, wines, and stylish way of living.

So much so that in 2010, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared the “gastronomic supper of the French” to be part of humanity’s “intangible cultural heritage.”

What if we told you that you may now learn how to drink, eat, and live from the masters themselves?! That’s right, you read that correctly. A prestigious French institution is providing a Master’s degree programme in how to drink, eat, and experience life.

BMV – short for ‘boire, manger, and vivre’ – is a course provided at Sciences Po Lille, one of France’s most famous political science schools.

The BMV course, according to Sciences Po Lille’s official website, includes a wide range of topics, including meals, drinks, food technology, gastro-diplomacy, and more.

According to sources, the course entails writing essays on topics such as lifestyle, cuisine, and farming. The students also attend numerous food and beverage conferences and conclaves.

“Sciences Po is the great school that posits and tackles modern difficulties owing to the human and social sciences: this century that you will have known from birth carries and drags the interconnected questions of the trio of drinking, eating, and living (BMV),” says lecturer Benoit Lengaign.
