It was disclosed in a recent report, published by Pakwheels.com that Ghandhara Nissan, a Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) subsidiary, is set to introduce a new lineup of SUVs to Pakistan in collaboration with the Chinese automaker Chery. Ghandhara Nissan is confirmed to have signed an agreement with Chery to acquire the distribution and production rights of Chery SUVs in Pakistan.
It was also stated in the report that the Chery Tiggo 8, a mid-size crossover SUV with two turbocharged petrol engine options available on the international market, was the first SUV to enter the Pakistani market.
One of them is a petrol turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 156 horsepower & 230 Newton Meters of torque. The other one is a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 197 horsepower & 290 Nm of torque. Former is connected to a 6-speed manual, whereas latter is connected to an automatic 7-speed DCT gearbox. With Front-Wheel-Drive only, all car models are offered.
In each trim-level of the car, the safety and comfort features differ. Popular features include:
- Locks for Power Door
- Device Immobilizer
- Push Start Button and Keyless Entry
- Cruise Control
- Tire Pressure Control Monitoring system
- Brakes for ABS
- Traction Control
- Regulation for Electronic Stability
- Assist for Hill Start
- Front Airbag for Driver/Passenger
- Kid Seat Anchors for ISOFIX
- Front and Back Heated Ventilated Seats
- 3rd row seating (optional)
- Multifunction Controls for the Steering Wheel
- Infotainment Screen
- Connectivity from Bluetooth
- Electric Adjustment Rearview Mirror
The vehicle starts at Rs. 2.1 million in the international market and goes up to Rs. 3.6 million. However, given that its competition is against the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Kia Sorento in the Pakistani market, the vehicle is likely to be priced far higher than that. Nevertheless, as it is sold only as a FWD SUV, it should be priced lower than the competition.
