Good to See You is My Standard Greeting for All: Chief Justice Pakistan

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Umar Ata Bandial, received criticism from the ruling alliance for his greeting to former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Supreme Court, where he said “good to see you.” On May 16, Chief Justice Bandial clarified that the greeting was a part of court etiquette and did not carry any political connotation.

These remarks were made during Mr. Khan’s appearance before the Supreme Court following his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case, which resulted in violent protests by his supporters.

During a federal cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was stated that the way Chief Justice Bandial greeted Mr. Khan, who is also the chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, brought disgrace to the country’s judiciary.
