In spite of a ban on luxury items, government has allowed the imports of all the items who appeared on the port by 1June, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has announced.
He tweeted that as government proscribed certail luxury items on the temporary bases, several shipment of those goods reached the port. In order to circumvent the importer from loss, the government grant the permission to import all the goods that have reached on ports by 1 June with minimal amount of surcharge.
Miftah along with MQM-P senior leader and Maritime Minister Faisal Subzwari were trying to minimize the loss of importers and they only have to pay minimum or most probably demurrage on container detention charges.
The government disclosed an emergency economic plan and disallowed the imports of non-essential luxury items.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister announced the economic plan of PML-N government to manage with challenges in financial sector, confirmed through a press conference held in Islamabad.
