IG Islamabad Fires All Contract Employees

Islamabad Police has reportedly ended the contracts of 29 former officers and other employees as part of an administrative decision under Inspector General of Police Captain (retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry.

According to sources, the decision affects contract-based personnel working in different sections of the Islamabad Police. Those removed from their positions reportedly include staff associated with the Information Technology department, including employees serving in director and software engineering roles.

A law officer is also among those whose contracts have been terminated. The list further includes four former Superintendents of Police (SPs) and three former Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).

A notification covering the affected employees has reportedly been issued, formally ending their contractual arrangements with the department.

The move comes as the Islamabad Police administration continues to review its internal structure, administrative affairs and use of resources. IGP Sohail Chaudhry has recently chaired meetings focused on departmental performance, administrative matters and the functioning of different police divisions.

The latest decision could lead to further changes in the deployment of personnel and management of different departments within the capital police. H awowever, details regarding the reasons for ending each individual contract have not been publicly disclosed in the information available.

Captain (retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry assumed charge as Islamabad’s police chief in September 2026 and has since held meetings aimed at reviewing departmental affairs and policing operations.
