Govt Announces 40,000 Subsidised e-Bikes for General Public

The federal government has announced that 40,000 e-bikes will be provided to the public at discounted prices as part of a plan to promote electric vehicles in Pakistan.

Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, shared this update at a press conference in Islamabad. He highlighted the attractive incentives being offered to foreign investors who are setting up electric vehicle plants in Pakistan. This initiative is aimed at reducing pollution and cutting down the country’s oil imports.

A subsidy of Rs 4 billion has been allocated for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, along with soft loans from banks to help the public make the switch. In addition, the government will give 120 e-bikes to top students and set up 3,000 charging stations across the country.

This move is part of Pakistan’s effort to promote environmentally friendly transportation and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
