Govt Announces Summer Vacations for Schools from May 22 to August 24

The Sindh government has officially announced summer vacations for all schools across the province. According to the Education Department, schools will remain closed from June 1 to July 31, 2026. This decision applies to both government and private schools. The move comes as temperatures continue to rise and a severe heatwave is expected in many parts of the province.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has announced even longer summer vacations. Schools in Punjab will close from May 22 and reopen on August 24, 2026. This makes it one of the longest summer breaks in recent years. The early closure aims to protect students from extreme heat, dehydration, and heat-related illnesses, especially in areas where schools lack proper cooling facilities.

Other provinces are also expected to announce their vacation schedules soon. Education departments say student safety is the top priority during this period of intense heat. Parents have welcomed the decision, though some are concerned about the effect on studies and academic calendars.

Students are advised to use this time for revision and light learning activities at home. The governments have asked schools to complete important portions of the syllabus before the vacations begin. Weather experts warn that this summer may be hotter than usual, making early vacations necessary.
