Govt Approves 70km Murree Expressway Extension to Muzaffarabad

The government has approved a major new road project to improve travel in northern Pakistan. The National Highway Authority (NHA) will extend the Murree Expressway (N-75) by 70 kilometres to reach Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This decision was made during a special NHA meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.

The extension aims to connect Azad Jammu and Kashmir more closely with Pakistan’s main motorway network. It will offer faster, safer, and more modern travel options for people living in the area and for tourists. The minister said residents of Azad Kashmir deserve the same high-quality road facilities available in other parts of the country.

The project is expected to boost regional connectivity, support tourism in the beautiful hill areas, and help local businesses grow. Better roads can reduce travel time and make journeys more comfortable, especially during bad weather.

During the meeting, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also directed the NHA to finish 25 important ongoing projects before starting too many new ones. This will help complete work on time and use resources wisely.

This extension is a positive step for infrastructure development. Once built, the Murree-Muzaffarabad Expressway will bring economic benefits and improve the lives of people in the region by providing reliable and safe transport links.
