The megaproject made its approval at a assembly of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) in Islamabad, presided over by
the Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.

It agreed to the improvement, operation, and maintenance of the KCR as a contemporary city railway via a public-private companionship at a total value of Rs201.572 billion.
