Pakistan is moving ahead with plans to involve private-sector expertise in the management of Lahore and Karachi airports, marking another step toward upgrading the country’s aviation infrastructure.
The government has started work on the outsourcing framework and is seeking a financial adviser to assist with developing the model. The adviser will help authorities assess the structure of the arrangement and support efforts to bring suitable private operators into the process.
The two airports play an important role in Pakistan’s air travel network, serving large numbers of domestic and international passengers. Greater private-sector involvement could introduce improved management practices, upgraded facilities and more efficient airport operations.
The plan could also create opportunities to strengthen commercial activity at the airports while improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
Officials see the initiative as part of a broader push to modernise aviation infrastructure, encourage investment and improve Pakistan’s international connectivity. If successfully implemented, the new management approach could set a new direction for airport operations in the country.
