Govt. Hikes electricity price by Rs. 1.68 per unit.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a rate hike for domestic users of Rs1.68 per unit.

The news comes just hours after the federal government raised the price of gasoline by up to Rs8.03 per litre in an attempt to restart the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

The current increase will not apply to households that utilise less than 200 units.

The government has increased the power tariff for the industrial sector by Rs1.39 per unit.
