A government primary school in Chak 131 Lonewala, located in Chiniot district, has come under heavy public critic!sm after reports surfaced claiming that classroom fans were deliberately switched off in an attempt to cut electricity expenses, forcing young students to study in severe heat conditions. The issue gained widespread attention after a video from the school began circulating on social media, showing children sitting inside overcrowded classrooms with little ventilation during the ongoing hot weather.
According to students and local residents, the lack of proper cooling facilities has made it extremely difficult for children to focus on their studies, with many reportedly feeling exhausted and uncomfortable during school hours. Parents also expressed concern over the health and well-being of students, saying that classrooms become unbearable during peak daytime temperatures. The incident sparked criticism online, with many questioning how students can continue learning effectively in such harsh conditions.
Education authorities later responded to the reports, stating that the school is being operated under an outsourcing arrangement. Officials said the matter has been taken seriously and action is now being considered against the operator responsible for managing the school. A formal letter has also been sent to the Punjab Education Foundation requesting a detailed inquiry into the situation and recommending appropriate disciplinary measures if negligence is confirmed.
