China has provided Gwadar port with essential equipment to help prepare for potential natural disasters like floods, heavy rain, and other meteorological hazards.
This support, facilitated by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), includes a mobile vertical observation system, a Beidou Navigation sounding station, and three automatic weather stations (AWS), along with two backup AWS units and a large screen display.
Once installed and operational at Gwadar Port, these tools will also benefit nearby areas like Jiwani and Turbat in Balochistan, as reported.
This collaborative effort between CMA and PMD aims to strengthen the capacity of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in managing meteorological emergencies, aligning with the Belt and Road Initiative’s goals.
