Gwadar’s 300 MW Coal Power Plant to End Energy Shortage by 2023

The issue of energy scarcity, which was hanging in Gwadar, is predicted to be solved. After the 300 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station was inaugurated in October 2023, The 300MW coal-fired Gwadar power plant would be assisting 150,000 local citizens till the end of the year 2023, as per the Gwadar 2050 Master Plan, through an official source who delivered the news of the secret project.

He claimed that the power plant was among the most significant energy projects in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This project looks forward to the betterment of domestic power supply reliability, which would result in the resolution of power outages in the Gwadar area’s constant urban extension and development of the economy.

Presently, they have been paying millions of dollars every year for diesel generators for the creation of electricity, as per an official source.

It also revealed the prediction that the plant, which is being considered currently, would be in a working state very soon, ending the difficulties of the port’s power shortage.

The power plant is significant for the expansion of China-Pakistan energy support, speeding up the construction of the Belt and Road, emphasising the overall power structure of Balochistan and also promoting the local economic development in Gwadar Port.

The Gwadar Power Plant, the New Gwadar International Airport Project, the China-Pak Friendship Hospital, the China-Pak Technical and Vocational Institute in Gwadar, the Gwadar East-bay Expressway Project, the Gwadar Free Zone, and the Gwadar Port are all key CPEC projects in Gwadar.
