Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert Issued For Five Days

A five-day spell of rain and thunderstorms is expected to affect parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 17 to 21, with authorities warning residents about the possibility of heavy rainfall, strong winds, urban flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Several districts are likely to experience unsettled weather during the period, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Murree, Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad and Mansehra.

Areas located near rivers, streams, steep terrain and low-lying urban zones could face heightened risks during periods of intense rainfall.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions throughout the weather spell.

Travellers have been encouraged to avoid unnecessary journeys, particularly during heavy rain, while the public has been warned to stay away from flooded roads, rivers and other areas where water levels may rise quickly.

People living in hilly and mountainous regions have also been urged to exercise caution around steep slopes due to the possibility of landslides.

Residents are advised to maintain a safe distance from power poles, damaged infrastructure and weakened structures during strong winds and thunderstorms.

Rescue services and district administrations have been placed on alert to respond to potential weather-related emergencies. Officials are expected to monitor vulnerable locations and coordinate emergency response measures if heavy rainfall causes flooding, landslides or disruptions to transportation.

The public has been urged to follow official weather and safety advisories throughout the five-day period and take precautions to protect themselves, their families and property as conditions develop.
