Pakistan’s women’s national football team achieved a historic milestone in April 2026 by participating for the first time in a senior FIFA-organised international tournament, the FIFA Women’s Series 2026 held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
In their opening match on April 9, the Shaheens delivered a stunning performance against the Turks and Caicos Islands. Pakistan dominated the game completely and won by a record-breaking score of 8-0. This is the biggest victory in the history of Pakistan women’s football.
Zahmena Malik opened the scoring, while Aqsa Mushtaq and Layla Banaras each scored two goals. Nadia Khan also found the net and became Pakistan’s all-time leading goal scorer.
This impressive win marked a major moment for women’s football in Pakistan, especially after the team had faced several challenges and a long period without international matches in the past.
Although Pakistan finished third in their group after losses to Mauritania and the Ivory Coast, the record 8-0 victory brought huge pride to the nation and gave the young team valuable international exposure.
The performance is being seen as an important step in the development and growth of women’s football in Pakistan.
