ICC Named Shahid Afridi as ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Ambassador

Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the newest Ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, joining a prestigious lineup that includes Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, and Usain Bolt. Afridi, who has participated in six T20 World Cups and was a key player in Pakistan’s victory in 2009, will play a significant role in promoting the tournament and sharing expert insights.

Expressing his excitement about the upcoming event, Afridi emphasized the tournament’s importance, particularly highlighting the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan on 9 June in New York. He also pointed out the growth of the tournament and the increasing excitement for more teams and matches.

Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager, praised Afridi for his illustrious T20 career and acknowledged his pivotal role in Pakistan’s success in 2009. Afridi’s addition to the Ambassador team, alongside other well-known personalities, aims to engage fans and enrich their experience of the tournament.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to feature 20 teams competing across nine venues. The tournament will commence on 1 June with USA taking on Canada in Texas and will include a total of 55 matches, culminating in the final showdown on 29 June in Barbados.
