Imran Khan Cricket Ground Sealed in Karachi

The Imran Khan Cricket Ground in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area has been closed by the Karachi East District Municipal Corporation (DMC) due to illegal “commercial activities.” The cricket ground, which was constructed using funds from former PTI lawmaker Alamgir Khan and named after PTI chairman and former Pakistan captain Imran Khan, was originally intended as a public park where residents could spend time with their families.

Complaints were lodged by local residents alleging that the ground was being used for commercial purposes instead. In response, the DMC East took action and sealed the facility. The district council had not approved the name of the ground, and as part of the enforcement, the name boards were removed and the DMC East assumed control of the premises.

Following the takeover by local authorities, the general public will be allowed to enter the ground free of charge.
