Prime Minister Imran Khan will open the world’s largest Miyawaki urban forest in Lahore today (Monday) as part of the 10 billion Tree Tsunami project’s monsoon effort.
Farrukh Habib, the state minister for Information and Broadcasting, announced via his official Twitter account.
Another 53 Miyawaki blocks of wood are being planted in various sections of Lahore to build carbon sinks and improve pollution reduction in the city. All of the projects have been geo-tagged so that their growth and development may be tracked.
Because of the unique Miyawaki technique, the Miyawaki forest has been produced over 100 canals with 165000 plants that will grow ten times faster than a conventional forest. To create fast-growing urban forests, it employs specific land preparation and indigenous types with variable growth rates.
The ongoing Monsoon plantation effort, Pakistan’s largest ever, is planting over 500 million trees across the country.
