The Governor House was handed over to the Department of Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the PTI’s governor, Shah Farman, resigned.
The Governor’s House was handed over by the KPK government on April 27, 2022. This house was known for its serenity and was known as the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan’s, favourite go-to spot for vacation.
As the PTI’s senior leader resigned from the Pakhtunkhwa Governor’s post, Imran Khan wasn’t able to use the serene spot as he officially did in the past. The Provincial Government has handed the Governor House to the tourism department in order to keep it well maintained and ready to be used by Imran Khan when needed.
In Year 2020, five rest houses were decided to be handed over to the Tourism department from the Provincial Cabinet, which included Governor’s House, Chief Minister’s House, Speaker’s House, Police (IGP) House, and the Karnak House as well.
Four of these were handed over, but the Governor House was still in use by Governor Pakhtunkhwa till Shah Farman was in service.
Sources have claimed that the rest house was retained as Imran Khan used to stay here. As the PTI’s governor has resigned, another governor from some other political party will take over the position, which ultimately will not let Imran Khan use the place for leisure anymore.
As the Technical Committee decided to handover the spot to the tourism department, the decision couldn’t be materialised for a year, but as soon as the governor resigned, the Governor’s House was immediately handed over to the tourism department.
