Iran Bans Cryptocurrency Mining for Four Months After Blackouts

After the Islamic Republic of Iran formally prohibited mining of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for the next four months, crypto streets around Asia have entered another gap of popular uncertainty.

A statewide ban on crypto mining is now in effect, according to a statement made by the Iranian President’s Office via state television news, amid government concerns over high levels of energy usage and worries of blackouts during the summer season.

After all is said and done, the restriction will be lifted on September 22, 2021, according to Bloomberg Crypto.

For what it’s worth, the Iranian government’s crypto mining ban was reportedly sparked by a string of nationwide blackouts that began last month and caused a slew of problems for the country’s already out-of-control energy shortages.
