An unusual exchange took place at the United Nations General Assembly after Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon offered a Starlink internet device to an Iranian diplomat.
The incident happened on Thursday, September 24, 2026, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the 81st UN General Assembly in New York. During his speech, Netanyahu displayed a Starlink terminal and said the technology could help Iranians access the internet despite government restrictions.
After the speech, Danon approached Iranian representative Nasser Asadi and offered him the same device. He asked Asadi to take it back to Tehran, saying it could help Iranian people access information and gain freedom. Danon also said that Israel supports the Iranian people and that he hoped for political change in Iran.
The Iranian diplomat did not accept the device. Video of the exchange showed him turning away while Danon continued speaking.
Danon later shared footage of the incident on social media, saying that the Iranian representative did not want the Starlink device.
