Islamabad Administration allows Traffic on Wrong Side of Islamabad Expressway

As a stop-gap measure to relieve traffic congestion during peak hours, municipal officials have decided to move partial traffic flow on the incorrect side of the Islamabad Expressway from Koral to Faizabad in the morning and evening.

The highway is one of Islamabad’s busiest thoroughfares, and traffic on it has increased dramatically in recent years, owing mostly to the rapid construction of housing societies along its length.

On a regular basis, tens of thousands of people drive to Islamabad in the morning and return in the evening, causing traffic congestion. As a result, during peak hours, the route is quite congested.

The arrangements were presented to CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal.
