Islamabad Court Bans S*x Change in Pakistan

The Islamabad Federal Shariat Court has released that statement about transgender s*x determination stating that they cannot self-identify themselves as male or female based on personal preferences. The decision has been made in response to the petition filed for Transgender rights under Transgender Protection Act 2018.

The Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Anwar and Khadim Hussain directed the bench meeting and released the verdict that section 3 and 7 of the Transgender Protection Act are against Shariat. The board has also declared section 2F as invalid.

The court commented that no one can develop self-made identities or decide to be declared transgender based on physical appearances. The court further stated that government must ensure that all the transgender rights are given to them according to Islam.
