Islamabad High court orders to grant citizenship to an Afghan child born in Pakistan 24 years ago

The Islamabad High Court ordered the Ministry of Interior to take steps to grant Pakistani citizenship to any foreign child born in Pakistan. In the hearing on the application for Pakistani citizenship of Fazal, a young man born in a family of Afghan refugees 24 years ago, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minullah remarked that the court had fully implemented the decision given in the case of Senator Hamdullah. Import orders were issued.

The Chief Justice told the lawyer of the Ministry of Interior that any child born in Pakistan is called a citizen of Pakistan and will only need a birth certificate. Like the US and some other countries, our law is also bound to give citizenship to every child born in Pakistan.
