Japanese Mountaineer Dies While Climbing Never-Scaled ‘Virgin-Peak’ in Pakistan

During an expedition to climb the untouched Virgin Peak in northern Pakistan, a Japanese climber lost his life, and another was hurt by a suspected piece of rock.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan’s Secretary, Karrar Haidri, confirmed that climbers Shinji Tamura and Semba Takayasu were involved. Tamura fell at 5,380 meters while going up the mountain. Takayasu got hurt by a rock but managed to return to the base camp to get help.

A search team was sent to look for Tamura. Unfortunately, Tamura’s body was found a few days later. The Japanese Embassy in Pakistan sent condolences for this sad event.
