Jazz, Ufone & Zong Skyrocket Mobile Packages Cost by 22% But PTA Denies!

Mobile users in Pakistan are facing higher costs for calls and internet services, with data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority showing noticeable increases in the prices of several popular packages over the past year.

Between June 2025 and June 2026, selected packages from Jazz, Ufone, Zong and Telenor recorded price increases ranging from 12% to 22%. The changes have added to the monthly expenses of consumers who depend on mobile services for communication, work, education and internet access.

The figures have also prompted discussion about how frequently telecom companies are raising their prices. PTA, however, has rejected claims that operators are increasing package rates by 10% to 20% every month.

According to the regulator, the reported annual increases would amount to an average monthly rise of around 1% to 2% when spread across the year. PTA said it continues to monitor telecom tariffs and has the authority to intervene if pricing practices begin to negatively affect consumers.

The higher package costs are particularly significant for people who rely heavily on mobile data and voice services. For many users, mobile packages have become an essential part of daily life, supporting online communication, digital payments, remote work, entertainment and access to information.

The regulator’s clarification provides a different picture from claims of frequent double-digit monthly increases. However, the year-on-year figures still show that consumers are paying more for some commonly used packages.

Telecom operators may continue to adjust prices in response to operating costs and market conditions, while regulators remain responsible for ensuring that pricing remains within acceptable limits.

For consumers, the latest figures highlight the importance of comparing available packages and choosing plans that offer the best value for their usage.

PTA’s continued monitoring will remain important as mobile connectivity becomes increasingly essential and package prices continue to influence household spending.
