Kamran Akmal has voiced his disapproval of Babar Azam’s captaincy during Pakistan’s final T20I against New Zealand at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
According to Akmal, Babar has not learned from his previous mistakes as a captain, which contributed to Pakistan’s defeat in the last T20I. Akmal specifically criticized Babar’s lack of tactical insight, including his failure to bring in off-spinner Iftikhar Ahmed against left-handers Mark Chapman and James Neesham, and his overreliance on leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who was not effective against the Kiwi batsmen.
Akmal suggested that Babar should have rested Shadab Khan and introduced a different bowling option to regain the team’s momentum, but Babar did not take this advice.
