Karachi Tops List of World’s Most Polluted Cities

Karachi has topped the global list of the most polluted cities, recording a dangerously high Air Quality Index (AQI) of 262, according to Dunya News. Dhaka and Kabul follow closely, with AQIs of 249 and 216, respectively.

Air pollution continues to be a major problem in Pakistan, especially in urban areas. Cities like Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar are also facing worsening air quality, posing serious health risks.

Experts have raised concerns about the impact of air pollution on public health. It is known to cause severe respiratory problems, with children and older adults being the most affected. Just a week ago, Lahore was the most polluted city in the world due to smog, a key factor in declining air quality.

The situation in Karachi highlights the urgent need for measures to control pollution and protect public health. Authorities and citizens must work together to reduce emissions, improve waste management, and increase awareness about the harmful effects of pollution.

As Pakistan’s cities struggle with deteriorating air quality, addressing this issue has become critical to ensuring the health and well-being of its population.
