Karachi University Teachers Call Off Boycott of Classes

The protest by Karachi University professors has been ended, resulting in the resumption of teaching activities after 10 days.

The professors had announced the end of their protest and boycott of teaching activities upon the acceptance of their demands.

According to the professors’ association, classes in the morning and evening at Karachi University will now follow the regular schedule. It was evident that educational activities in both morning and evening programs at Karachi University had been disrupted since last Friday, while the professors had been boycotting classes for 10 days.

The professors’ demand was centered on the timely disbursement of salaries and the exemption of fees for M.Phil and Ph.D. students.

In response, Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Dr. Khalid Iraqi, had invited the professors for negotiations. He mentioned that the demands and protests by the Professors’ Association had led to the end of the fee waiver, which would result in further financial losses for Karachi University if the fees were waived.
