King Charles Honors Pakistan’s First Female Architect with Prestigious Award

One of the top honours in the industry, the prize was granted by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Prof. Lari received the honour for her work on self-built, carbon-free homes for the homeless and for her humanitarian efforts to aid those afflicted by natural catastrophes and climate change.

She is also credited with creating the Chulah Cookstove, a green substitute for conventional stoves that lowers pollution and enhances health results.Prof. Lari co-founded the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan and has created more than 50,000 environmentally friendly housing and shelter units for underprivileged neighbourhoods.

She is only the second woman to ever get the honour and the first Pakistani. The medal is given to people who have significantly contributed to architecture and is personally authorised by the king.
