The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken disciplinary action against 589 government employees as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen accountability within the provincial administration.
Officials said 827 cases have been registered since October 2025, with 629 cases already concluded and 198 still being processed. The completed cases have resulted in different forms of disciplinary action depending on the nature of the allegations and findings.
Among the employees penalised, 128 were removed from service, while 18 were dismissed. Six employees were compulsorily retired, while others received penalties including demotions, salary recoveries, suspensions, warnings and reprimands.
Unauthorized absence was reported as the most common offence among the cases reviewed by authorities. Other reported violations included negligence, corruption, financial irregularities and incompetence.
The disciplinary drive is part of the provincial government’s wider focus on improving administrative performance and ensuring that government employees follow established rules and responsibilities.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the accountability process would be carried out without discrimination. He stressed the importance of transparency, merit and good governance while reiterating the government’s position against corruption.
The government’s action comes as provincial authorities continue reviewing cases involving employees accused of misconduct or failure to perform their official duties.
With nearly 200 cases still under process, further disciplinary decisions are expected as investigations and proceedings are completed. The final outcomes will depend on the findings in each individual case.
The ongoing drive highlights the provincial government’s efforts to improve accountability across government departments. Officials have indicated that maintaining discipline and ensuring responsible conduct among public servants will remain a priority.
The KP administration says the broader objective is to strengthen public institutions, improve service delivery and promote a culture of transparency and accountability across the province.
