The Lahore High Court (LHC) has filed a written petition seeking changes to the Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-2021 to make airbags mandatory in each and every vehicle.
The petitioner made various departments of the federal government and major brands of vehicles as respondents in the case.
He pleaded in the court that the use of airbags in cars will prevent fatal accidents, stressing that the restraint system takes time to protect people.
The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has been ordered by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to ensure compulsory airbag installation in locally produced vehicles.
This was confirmed by the Secretary of the Auto Industry Development Committee (AIDC) during the last meeting of the Auto Industry Development Committee (AIDC) held by the Board of Investment (BOI).
It was agreed that 16 shortlisted regulations would be sent to the government for inclusion in SRO 656.
