Pakistan Railways has successfully recovered 2.72 acres of valuable land belonging to the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) in a major anti-encroachment operation. The action took place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, near Ojha Campus of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) at Deh Dozan, behind King Classic Apartments.
During the operation, 12 people were arrested, and an FIR was registered against them. The recovered land was illegally occupied for a private housing project called “Sheikhani Sky Towers.” Officials say the land is part of the old KCR alignment and is legally owned by Pakistan Railways. Its market value is estimated at over Rs 1.42 billion.
The operation was carried out after court refused to extend a stay order on May 25. It was conducted under the supervision of Divisional Superintendent Jamshed Alam with support from the Railway Police and the district administration. Heavy machinery was used to remove illegal constructions.
This success is part of a nationwide campaign by Railways Minister Mohammad Hanif Abbasi to free railway land from encroachers. Pakistan Railways has been actively working to protect national assets worth billions of rupees.
The recovery is seen as an important step towards the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway project, which aims to improve public transport in the city.
