Saudi authorities issued emergency alerts across Jeddah, Makkah and Taif on Tuesday, warning residents of a potential danger and instructing them to move to safe locations and follow official safety guidance.
The warnings were delivered through the National Early Warning Platform as regional tensions continue to rise amid attacks linked to Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group. The group has intensified missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia in recent developments.
Authorities initially did not provide details about the nature or source of the reported threat. Residents in the affected areas were advised to remain indoors and keep away from windows, balconies and rooftops as a precautionary measure.
People who were outside when the alerts were issued were instructed to seek shelter in the nearest safe location and follow directions from emergency authorities.
The alerts caused concern among residents in the three cities, although officials later provided an update on the situation. Saudi Civil Defense announced that the danger had subsided in several of the affected locations.
Authorities continued to urge the public to rely on official announcements and comply with safety instructions during the period of heightened regional tensions.
