A well-known Japanese explorer and tailor recently became a social media sensation after scaling Mount Kinabalu, the tallest mountain in Malaysia, while wearing a sleek three-piece leather suit.
An office ID tag around his neck, a messenger bag, and a Japanese man dressed in a sharp three-piece suit are among the last things you would anticipate seeing at the summit of the 4,095-meter Mount Kinabalu.
And yet, that is precisely the unexpected image that Nobutaka Sada, a Japanese tailor and explorer, presented to mountaineers at the summit of Malaysia’s highest peak this week as he posed for pictures and films to share on his well-liked social media profiles.
Sada frequently conducts stunts like these to promote his bespoke suit business, which he owns.
In the past, while wearing his impeccable suit, vest, tie, and leather shoes, Mr. Sada has hiked Japan’s 26th tallest peak, Mount Shirouma (2,932m), run the Tokyo marathon, gone skiing on Hokkaido’s slopes, and even gone snorkelling in the Genkai Sea.
And he always loves to brag about his clothing and how it holds up in any circumstance. This time, he claimed that the suit helped him arrive on time for his “business meeting” at the summit while keeping him dry and toasty in the rain and tropical humidity.
