Saqlain Mushtaq Joins New Zealand as Assistant Coach for Pakistan Tour

For the next limited-overs series against Pakistan, former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is prepared to carry out his duties as the New Zealand team’s assistant coach.

“I have accepted this role for a brief period after New Zealand Cricket approached me. I will only work with the team during their stay in Pakistan,” Saqlain confirmed.

“I am currently in the United States and will join the New Zealand squad upon my return on April 12,” said the former interim Pakistan head coach.

For the T20I and ODI series against Pakistan that are slated to be played in April and May, Mushtaq will assist the Black Caps. Five ODIs and five T20Is make up the series.

Mushtaq was most recently the Pakistani team’s head coach; however, he resigned after his contract expired in February of last year.

This news comes as Mickey Arthur, who will work as a consultant, is anticipated to lead a new coaching staff that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will designate.
