Earlier in July 2021, Mr. Fawad Chaudhry announced the commencement of Free Fire Pakistan League, the first esports tournament supported under E-PAK – an initiative that aims at promoting esports culture among youths in Pakistan.
Over 2000 competitive teams from 6 cities across Pakistan have registered for this tournament in the Qualifiers round.
After 2 months and many rounds of intense competition, 12 best Free Fire teams have emerged and will proceed to the Grand Final event this Sunday (10th October). This will be the season’s final round, in which these best players will be competing for a prize pool of PKR 10 Millions, the largest esports prize pool to date in Pakistan.
Thus far, FFPL’s live-streamed games have garnered over 2 million views on social media, signalling the growth in popularity of esports in Pakistan. Especially for this season, Free Fire Pakistan League will have an Offline Grand Final event, where esports fans can gather and support their favourite teams.
Mr. Fawad Chaudhry said: “I am very happy seeing these young talents trying to live their dream of being professional esports athletes. They will be fighting for their chance to represent Pakistan on the world stage, as the 4 best teams from this event are going to participate in an international Asia tournament in November.”
In the gathering with the captains of the 12 finalist teams at the minister’s office, Mr. Fawad Chaudhry expressed a grand gesture by signing on all the teams’ jerseys to wish them good luck for the Grand Final event.
All Team Players expressed their gratitude toward the Ministry: “We feel proud to be a part of a tournament endorsed by the Government. This season, we can proudly tell our family and friends that we’re playing in this prestigious tournament, that we’re trying our best to fulfill this dream.”
This FFPL tournament is officially sponsored by Bigo Live and co-sponsored by Infinix.
FFPL Grand Final will occur at 7PM 10th Oct at Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi with the presence of special guests: the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, singer Umair Jaswar and host Shahzad Khan.
