Ministry of IT Approves Rs.8 Billion Budget for 9 Broadband, Optical Fiber Projects

On Friday, the federal ministry of information technology was granted permission to spend Rs8 billion on nine broadband and optical fiber projects across the country, which will serve 7.5 million new internet users.

The board of directors of the Universal Service Fund huddled over nine of these initiatives, authorizing funds to expand IT services in places where there is no internet access.

A total of Rs2.6 billion will be spent on broadband networks, with another Rs4.98 billion set aside for optical fiber.

According to the meeting, these projects will support 7.5 million people from different districts across all provinces, covering a total area of 37,790 square kilometers.

Aminul Haque, federal minister of information technology claimed that these projects would ensure internet connectivity for Babusar Peak, Saiful Malook Lake, and Kumrat Valley.
