Mohammad Rizwan to Surpass Virat Kohli & Babar Azam’s Record

Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter, is on the verge of breaking a major T20I record currently held by his teammate Babar Azam and Indian star batter Virat Kohli during the upcoming series against New Zealand.

Both Kohli and Azam share the record for the fastest players to score 3,000 runs in T20I cricket, achieving the milestone in 81 innings each. Australia’s Aaron Finch took 98 innings to reach the same milestone.

Rizwan, however, only needs 19 more runs in his next two innings to become the fastest player to reach 3,000 runs in T20I cricket. So far, he has accumulated 2,981 runs in 78 innings.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam is nearing Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in T20I cricket. Azam has scored 3,698 runs in T20I cricket so far, placing him third on the list of the highest run-scorers in the format.

Kohli tops the list with 4,037 runs, while his teammate Rohit Sharma follows closely with 3,974 runs. Azam needs 340 runs in the next five games to become the highest scorer in T20I cricket and the second player to surpass the 4,000-run mark.

For those unfamiliar, Pakistan is set to host New Zealand in a five-match T20I series starting April 18. The first three T20I matches between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium on April 18, 20, and 21. The action then shifts to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the final two matches on April 25 and 27.

All eyes will be on Rizwan as he aims to surpass the record of Kohli and Azam, making the upcoming series a thrilling one for cricket fans around the world.
