Multan Sultans Beats Quetta Gladiators in PSL 9 match

In the 11th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9, Multan Sultans secured a notable victory against Quetta Gladiators, triumphing by 13 runs at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Opting to bat first after losing the toss, Multan Sultans displayed an impressive batting performance, maintaining a steady scoring rate despite an early setback with the dismissal of Usman Khan. Reeza Hendricks led the charge with a commanding 72 runs, supported ably by skipper Mohammad Rizwan, who contributed a vital 51 runs. The team’s middle order also made valuable contributions, with Tayyab Tahir adding 35 runs and Usman Khan chipping in with 14 runs. Sultans concluded their innings on a high note, accumulating 68 runs in the final five overs to post a challenging total of 180/4.

In response, Quetta Gladiators faced an uphill task chasing down the target of 181 runs. Despite commendable efforts from their batsmen, including Khawaja Nafay’s 36 runs and Rilee Rossouw’s 30 runs, the team struggled to maintain momentum, losing wickets at crucial junctures. Saud Shakeel and Sherfane Rutherford made useful contributions with 24 and 21 runs respectively, but the Gladiators fell short of the required total, finishing at 167/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Multan Sultans’ bowling attack put up a disciplined performance, with Mohammad Ali and David Willey leading the charge by claiming three wickets each. Aftab Ibrahim also made an impact, securing two crucial wickets, while Usama Mir provided valuable support with one wicket. Mohammad Ali’s stellar bowling display earned him the well-deserved title of Player of the Match.
