Tourists heading to Murree for Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations will face tighter restrictions this year as local authorities prepare for a rise in visitors.
The administration has enforced Section 144 from August 10 to August 16, covering the days around August 14. The decision comes as officials work to keep roads, public areas and tourist spots under control during the busy holiday period.
According to DPO Raza Tanveer Sipra, access toward Mall Road will be limited to families. Groups made up of individuals who are not travelling as families will not be permitted to proceed toward the popular tourist area.
Authorities have also introduced restrictions on several activities considered dangerous or disruptive. These include aerial firing, displaying weapons, performing motorcycle wheelies and risky stunts, and setting off fireworks. Other activities that could create disorder or threaten public safety have also been prohibited.
Police have warned that anyone found violating the restrictions could face legal action. Residents and tourists have been advised to follow the rules and mark Independence Day celebrations in a peaceful and responsible manner.
The additional measures are aimed at preventing accidents, maintaining law and order and protecting both visitors and local residents. Authorities are also preparing for the increased traffic and crowds expected in Murree during the holiday period.
With Independence Day approaching, officials are urging visitors to cooperate with police personnel and avoid activities that could put lives or property at risk.
