A Pakistani man named Quaid-e-Azam has taken his case to the Peshawar High Court after the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) blocked his Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
The petitioner appeared before a bench of Justice Waqar Ahmed and Justice Inamullah Khan. His lawyer told the court that Quaid-e-Azam is a businessman who works in Pakistan and Dubai. The blocked identity card has caused serious problems for his business activities and daily life.
NADRA’s legal representative informed the court that the CNIC was suspended because it was marked as suspicious. Officials did not give full public details about the exact reasons during the hearing.
After listening to both sides, the high court directed the man to appear before the NADRA Verification Board. The judges also ordered that he should not be deported until the verification process is finished. This gives him time to clear his name and restore his identity documents.
The unusual name “Quaid-e-Azam,” which means “Great Leader” and is the title of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, has drawn public attention to the case. CNIC blocks by NADRA can affect banking, travel, and other important services, making such cases significant for ordinary citizens.
