New Business plan Aims to make PIA Profitable by 2024.

A new business plan aimed at rescuing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from financial ruin has been presented for approval to the Ministry of Finance.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) devised a business plan to turn the loss-making national flag carrier into a profitable organisation.

Last year, the government decided to hire international consultants to develop a whole new business model to get the national airline out of financial trouble.

The IATA’s comprehensive plan envisions the national flag carrier being a profitable organisation by 2024. The number of planes in the airline’s fleet would be expanded from 29 to 49 under the new strategy, while the number of passengers on PIA flights will be increased from 5.2 million to 9 million.
