The Federal Board of Revenue has updated the customs values for smartphones once again, leading to higher taxes on several devices in Pakistan. This latest revision has increased the overall cost of importing and registering mobile phones.
The new changes have especially affected models from the iPhone 14 lineup. Taxes on the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max have gone up under both CNIC and passport registration methods. However, the iPhone 14 Plus has not been included in this increase and remains at the same tax level as before.
Officials said the higher taxes are the result of revised customs values assigned to these devices. When the assessed value of a phone increases, the import duties and other charges linked to it also rise. As a result, buyers now have to pay more to legally register their phones with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
This is the second adjustment in recent months, following a similar update earlier in 2026. The repeated changes have made even slightly older smartphone models more expensive for consumers.
Market observers say such increases can affect purchasing decisions, especially for people who rely on imported devices. Higher taxes may also encourage some users to delay upgrades or look for alternative options.
At the same time, authorities believe that updating customs values helps align official pricing with global market trends and ensures proper tax collection.
