New Karachi Loading? Islamabad Residents Lost Over Rs 300 Crore in Theft & Robberies in 2026

Islamabad residents lost cash, gold, vehicles and other valuables worth more than Rs. 3 billion to criminal activities during the first nine months of 2026, according to police records. The figures raise concerns about public safety in Pakistan’s federal capital.

Islamabad Police registered 4,504 cases of robbery, armed theft, snatching, house break-ins and vehicle theft between January 1 and September 30. These incidents left six people dead and 44 injured, including 22 who suffered gunshot wounds.

The stolen property included more than Rs. 998 million in cash and valuables worth around Rs. 1.7 billion. Criminals also took 868 tolas of gold, 97 cars and other vehicles, 1,905 motorcycles and 1,781 mobile phones.

Households and businesses were among the targets, with police recording 518 incidents at homes and 187 at commercial centres. Motorcycle theft remained a major concern, with 1,667 cases reported during the period.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Operations Ali Waseem said police had arrested suspects and recovered stolen property. However, detailed figures on arrests and recoveries were not immediately available.

Police sources also warned that the actual number of crimes and financial losses could be higher because some cases were not publicly disclosed.
