Punjab has launched the eTransit Punjab App and T-Cash Card to make public transport fully cashless. Passengers can now travel on metro buses and electric buses without using cash or buying tokens.
The new system was developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the Punjab Transport Department and the Punjab Mass Transit Authority. It aims to give people a faster, safer and more convenient travel experience.
With the eTransit App, users can plan journeys, check routes and schedules, and pay fares digitally. They can top up a digital wallet and generate a QR code for quick entry. The T-Cash Card is a prepaid smart card that can also be used for fare payments across metro and electric bus services.
Both options help reduce long queues at ticket counters. Commuters no longer need to carry cash or wait for physical tokens. The system works on a single digital platform for different public transport services in the province.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the launch is an important step in digital transport. He added that the goal is to offer secure and modern travel through technology.
The initiative supports Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision for smarter public services. It is expected to make daily commuting easier and more efficient for thousands of passengers across Punjab.
