Lahore’s Metro Bus service could be suspended from August 11 after its private operator, VEDA Transit Solutions, warned the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) that it may stop running the service.
VEDA Transit Solutions has reportedly said that it has used up its available financial resources and can no longer continue operations without a regular supply of fuel. The company has raised concerns over the ongoing fuel shortage and stated that the matter has not been resolved despite discussions with PMA.
According to the operator, the fuel supply issue has reached a critical point, leaving it with limited options to keep the Metro Bus system running. VEDA has now issued what it described as a final notice to the authority.
The company has stated that Metro Bus operations will be halted unless the required fuel is arranged in line with directions issued by the court. The warning has raised concerns about a possible disruption to public transport in Lahore.
The Lahore Metro Bus is widely used by residents for daily travel, including students, employees and other commuters. A suspension could create serious difficulties for thousands of passengers who depend on the service to reach their workplaces, educational institutions and other destinations.
The situation now depends on whether PMA and VEDA can resolve the fuel supply issue before August 11. If no arrangement is reached, commuters could face service disruptions from the announced date.
Authorities and the operator have yet to provide a clear long-term solution to the fuel issue, while passengers remain concerned about the possible impact on their daily travel plans.
