Elderly pensioners in Pakistan can now complete their “Proof of Life” verification from home, reducing the need to visit banks every six months. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made the Proof of Life Certificate (PoLC) free for pensioners through its PakID mobile app and other service points.
The first phase of the facility is aimed at around 3.1 million pensioners, covering federal, provincial, military and overseas beneficiaries. The process uses smartphone-based facial recognition and fingerprint verification. Family members can also help pensioners who are unable to complete the process on their own.
NADRA reported that almost 100,000 pensioners received their certificates during the first 10 to 12 days after the service was launched. The facility is particularly useful for elderly, bedridden and differently abled people who may struggle with regular bank visits.
How pensioners can get the certificate
- Open the NADRA PakID mobile app.
- Select the Proof of Life Certificate service.
- Complete the required identity and biometric verification.
- Follow the instructions to finish the digital process.
- Receive the certificate through the available digital system.
For those who need in-person assistance, the service is also available free of charge at NADRA Registration Centres, e-Sahulat franchises and Union Councils. Mobile registration services can also assist people with limited mobility.
The system allows banks to digitally verify a pensioner’s status through NADRA’s National Pensioners Register, making the process easier for both pensioners and banks.
